Our Rifles!

Power and Calibre

All our rifles are sub 12ftlb.  This ensures that they are within the legal requirement to not require a firearm certificate.

We generally use .177 calibre due to the flatter trajectory over the distances we shoot.

Rifle Types

There are two options:

1. Pre charged pneumatic rifles.  These are filled using air from a diving bottle or some people use foot pumps.   The latter is hard work!  Benefit of PCP rifles is that they have little to no recoil, which makes the firing process very smooth.

2. Piston rifles. There is no requirement for charging with air and they are deadly accurate in the right hands.  This is considered to be the more traditional and challenging way to shoot in our sport.

Both options are very popular with major competitions having prizes for both classes.

Cost

We know that sometimes getting into a new hobby is daunting but it really is accessible to everyone.  We really do recommend speaking to club members before you buy anything as we can advise which rifle/scope setup would be suitable and within your budget.   The reason we advise to ask before you buy is that there's nothing more disheartening than turning up with a rifle that won't knock anything over.  That's why we're here!!

As a rule for PCP, you could get yourself a nice 2nd hand S400 with a Falcon X50 scope for around £650

If this doesn't suit your budget there are plenty of other options we would be happy to discuss with you.
